This morning, President Obama announced a $3.4 billion investment in Smart Grid technology. Included in the announcement is a major award for Cobb EMC - $16,893,836.
"This is a major win for Cobb County and metro Atlanta," Congressman Scott said. "I congratulate Cobb EMC for their hard work and encourage them to become a green energy model for the country. This announcement means good jobs and clean energy for the region."
This is the largest single Smart Grid modernization investment in U.S. history, funding a broad range of projects that will ease the nation’s transition to a smarter, stronger, more efficient and reliable electric system. The $3.4 billion are part of the American Reinvestment and Recovery Act, and will be matched by industry funding for a total public-private investment worth over $8 billion.
