On Veterans Day, November 11, Congressman David Scott will join other Members of Congress at a wreath-laying ceremony at the Normandy American Cemetery and Memorial.
“On Veterans Day, all Americans should take time to remember the sacrifices of those members of the Armed Services who fought for our liberty,” Congressman Scott said. “It will be an honor for me to stand on the hallowed ground where so many gave the ultimate sacrifice during World War II.”
The Normandy American Cemetery and Memorial in France was established by the U.S. First Army on June 8, 1944 and the first American cemetery on European soil in World War II. http://www.abmc.gov/cemeteries/cemeteries/no.php
Congressman Scott will visit Normandy before attending sessions of the NATO Parliamentary Assembly. Congressman Scott is one of the US delegates to the Assembly (http://www.nato-pa.int ). ### |
