Today, Congressman David Scott (GA-13) announced that the U.S. Department of Health and Human Services has awarded $3,385,275 to several community health centers located in the Thirteenth District that are serving on the frontlines of the COVID-19 pandemic. The supplemental funding was made available by the Coronavirus Aid, Relief, and Economic Security (CARES) Act, which Scott strongly supported in Congress and was signed into law on March 27, 2020.
"Our community health centers are critical partners in the fight against the COVID-19 pandemic,” said Congressman Scott. “We owe our profound gratitude to the essential health care providers who are battling this pandemic day in and day out, and we must support them with the resources they need to identify, treat, and care for patients that might come down with COVID-19. I am incredibly proud to have these institutions in our community and I will continue to do everything in my power to support their essential work.”
The CARES Act provided $100 billion in funding to support critical health infrastructure. Supplemental funding awarded to community health centers in the Thirteenth District will be used for detection, prevention, diagnosis, and treatment of COVID-19, as well as maintaining health center capacity and staffing levels during the pandemic.
Community health centers in the 13th District of Georgia received the following supplemental funding:
- Family Health Centers of Georgia – $956,840
- Palmetto Health Council, Inc. of YourTown Health – $914,330
- Southside Medical Center, Inc. – $1,514,105
