Chairman David Scott Statement on Recent Cyber Attack on Meat Processors
Atlanta, June 4, 2021
Congressman David Scott (GA-13), chairman of the House Agriculture Committee, issued the following statement regarding the cyberattack on meat supplier JBS:
“The recent cybersecurity attack on one of our country's largest meat processors is deeply concerning to me. This cowardly hacking of our critical food, energy and financial systems and infrastructure must be stopped now.
“We must find out if the Russian government is involved and we must hold Russia accountable to helping us find out who is responsible for these attacks on our great nation.
“A secure and resilient food and agricultural supply chain is critical to the nation’s welfare and national security. I will be working closely with my partners at USDA and President Biden to get to the bottom of this.”
