Congressman David Scott Announces $53.3M for Thirteenth District Health Care Providers Fighting COVID-19

Today, Congressman David Scott (GA-13) announced the U.S. Department of Health and Human Services (HHS) awarded over $53 million for health centers and hospitals located in the Thirteenth District. Specifically, HHS awarded $49,976,090 to Thirteenth District hospitals working to combat the coronavirus pandemic and $3,385,275 to help health centers expand COVID-19 testing. The grants were funded as part of the Coronavirus Aid, Relief and Economic Security (CARES) Act.

“When facing an unprecedented emergency, we need to offer unprecedented solutions,” said Congressman Scott. “In states like Georgia, which failed to expand Medicaid, the CARES Act will offer the essential support that our medical community will need to get through this pandemic. Georgia will receive $377,176,825 in payments to hospitals who provided inpatient care for 100 or more COVID-19 patients based on their Medicare disproportionate share and uncompensated care payments. These funds will help keep the doors open for six medical facilities administering COVID-19 testing and treatment in the Thirteenth District, representing hundreds of beds and frontline medical jobs. I am proud to deliver these critical federal resources for my constituents.”
