Congressman Scott speaks at Tranquil AME United Methodist Church in Douglasville.
Congressman will speak at a tribute honoring Ricky Dobbs, hometown star athlete and quarterback for Navy. Hawthorne Center at Jessie Davis Park in Douglasville.
Monday, June 14, Congressman will tour the Arch Chemical plant and meet with employees in Conley.
May 23, Congressman Scott spoke at Light and Salvation Outreach Church in Douglasville.
May 24, Congressman Scott met with employees at the GE Energy offices in Cobb County.
Recent votes
Congressman Scott voted for the American Jobs and Closing Tax Loopholes Act, H.R. 4213. This measure will help create or save more than a million American jobs by restoring credit to small businesses, extending tax incentives for American Research and Development (R&D) and energy, rebuilding American infrastructure, expanding summer jobs for young people, and providing tax relief for middle class American families.
This measure passed the House by a vote of 245-171 and must now be approved by the Senate. A summary of some of the provisions of the legislation are detailed at the link.
Committee Action
On Thursday, June 10, the House Natural Resources Committee, Subcommittee on National Parks, Forests and Public Lands, led held a on Congressman Scott's bill. The Chattahoochee River National Recreation Area Boundary Study Act (H.R. 3785) would authorize the Secretary of the Interior to conduct a study of the suitability and feasibility of expanding the boundary of Chattahoochee River National Recreation Area. H.R. 3785 is still pending full committee action.
New Prescription Drug Assistance for Seniors
As part of the Affordable Care Act, many Medicare recipients across the country will begin receiving assistance to help pay for their prescription drug costs. Beginning June 10, 2010, the Department of Health and Human Services (HHS) will begin distributing a one-time tax -free $250 rebate check to those seniors who reach the coverage gap.
If you hit the donut hole after the program has begun, you should expect to receive your check within 45 days. Checks will be mailed monthly throughout the year as beneficiaries enter the coverage gap. You will only receive one check after you reach the coverage gap.

On May 25, the Marietta Daily-Journal ran a feature about the selection of David Wheaton, of Cobb County, to be a US House Page for the summer session.
On May 28, the Atlanta Journal-Constitution ran a story about
Congressman Scott's attending NATO PA meetings in Latvia and then visit security related sites in Montenegro and Bosnia during the Memorial Day recess. At the meeting in Latvia, Congressman Scott presented a paper before the Science and Technology Committee. As the General Rapporteur of the Committee, Congressman Scott discussed NATO relations with Russia in areas that include nuclear nonproliferation and disarmament, missile defense, energy security and the Arctic.
