It is hard to believe that the elections were held over a month ago. And like before the election, the lame-duck Congress is not making significant progress in addressing the fiscal cliff. However, I am hopeful that an agreement can be reached before Christmas week.
Many constituents have expressed concerns about how a failure to reach agreement on addressing budget deficits will affect their jobs. On Monday, I addressed a group of Lockheed employees in Marietta who are concerned that drastic budget cuts will result in job losses at defense contractors. You can read more about the town hall meeting in the MDJ online at this link. Recently, I wrote a column for the AJC about how Congress should find common ground to address the fiscal cliff. You can read the column online at this link. Soon, I hope to have some positive news about these negotiations.
