Atlanta VA Medical Center
Recent inspections at the Atlanta VA Medical Center have shown several disturbing incidents in which mental health patients were neglected and committed suicide. Further reports showed lax oversight of patient care in other floors of the medical center. In response to these disturbing reports, Congressman Scott joined with his colleagues in demanding answers from the Department of Veterans Affairs.
Further, he joined with a bi-partisan delegation to bring the Chairman of the House Committee on Veterans Affairs to the Medical Center to see firsthand what can be done to improve patient care. Congressman Scott will not let up in demanding that veterans in the metro Atlanta area receive the care they deserve at the facility in Decatur.
Backlog of Veterans Casework
In addition to the investigations at the Medical Center, Congressman Scott's office is hearing a lot of complaints from veterans who are waiting a long time to know the status of their disability claims and other applications. These backlogs need to be remedied. Please share your experiences with our office so that the Congressman can fight to speed up the processing of applications. If you have a personal issue with the VA, please contact the Congressman's office to discuss the problem with a caseworker.
Federal Tax Reform Ideas
Congress is considering a major re-write of the federal tax code. Proponents of this change argue that they can close loopholes and simplify the code in exchange for lowering overall tax rates. If you have ideas about how to improve the tax code, you can share them online at: https://taxreform.gov/
