Health Fair This Saturday
Please join Congressman Scott and dozens of health care providers to receive free health screenings and information about health plans at his annual health fair this Saturday at Mundy's Mill High School from 10:00 am - 2:00 pm. Congress began their annual August break on the 6th, and Congressman Scott has a busy schedule for the month. Just a few of his appearances and events are listed below, which do not include dozens of meetings in the district offices.
August 6 - CBC scholarship ceremony with students and family members
August 7 - tour of Nestle Purina plan in Fairburn
August 10 - small business roundtable with US Dept. of Health and Human Services
August 13 - tour of local Citigroup Credit Card division
August 16 - presenting replica Congressional Gold Medal to Brew Graham, Tuskegee Airman - Riverdale
August 17 - speaking to the Atlanta Association of Insurance and Financial Advisers and Association of Life Underwriters conference.
August 18 - Health Fair at Mundy's Mill H.S.
August 20 - tour of Children's Hospital at Egleston
August 21 - speaking to the Douglas County Chamber of Commerce luncheon
August 22 - press conference with U.S. Geological Survey in Austell.
August 29 - ribbon cutting at Wellstar Senior Clinic - Marietta
September 3-7 - Democratic National Convention - Charlotte, NC
White House Internships
All students of the 13th Congressional District who are interested in a spring White House internship should apply by September 23. For more information, visit: www.whitehouse.gov/about/internships
Check Your Voter Registration Status
and Find Your Local Precinct
The Democratic and Republican primary runoff elections will be held on August 21. The General election will be held on November 6. To find out if your voter registration is current and to locate your local precinct, visit the Secretary of State's website at: http://mvp.sos.state.ga.us/.
Next Generation Farmers
AGAware is a program with the mission of promoting and educating the next generation of young, beginning, small and minority (YBS&M) farmers. This program will offer workshops on topics like balance sheets, income statements, personal finance, credit bureau scores, risk management, succession planning, building a budget, accrual income, available finance programs specifically developed to help YBS&M farmers.
