In Case You Missed It: "We Shouldn't Let Our Veterans Go Hungry"

"Veteran hunger must be met not with apathy but with action," writes Ranking Member David Scott

House Agriculture Committee Ranking Member David Scott in an op-ed for the Atlanta Journal-Constitution addressed ongoing political attacks against the Supplemental Nutrition Assistance Program (SNAP) by extreme House Republicans, who are currently threatening to bankrupt the U.S. economy if their demands to weaken the program are not met.

"I refuse to accept that our nation is one where brave men and women can put on a uniform and put their lives on the line to fight in deadly wars only to return home and be left to fight another war alone: a personal war against poverty and hunger... Veteran hunger must be met not with apathy but with action,"  he wrote.

He continued:
"[I]t is outrageous that Speaker Kevin McCarthy and House Republicans are attempting to undermine food assistance programs as they negotiate an increase of the debt limit with the White House."
