2013 Inauguration

There has been a strong interest from constituents in the 13th Congressional District in attending the Presidential Inauguration and tickets to the event have been allocated.

There are some Inaugural Day activities that do not require a ticket.  The viewing areas of the National Mall closest to the U.S. Capitol will require a ticket, but the rest of the National Mall will be open to the public, with large viewing screens placed in several locations. You also do not need a ticket to stand along the Inaugural parade route.  Volunteer opportunities are also available.  Be aware that it will be cold in Washington in January and that you could be standing outside for several hours and chairs or stools are prohibited. You can learn more about the Inauguration activities from the event by visiting http://2013pic.org/ or by visiting the Inauguration Facebook page: https://www.facebook.com/2013inauguration

Congressman Scott's office will be open the afternoon of Sunday, January 20 and during the day of Monday, January 21.  His office is located in 225 Cannon House Office Building.  Please note that additional security and long lines may be experienced around Capitol buildings.  Parking is not available, but Metro is located a block away at the Capitol South Station. Capitol and White House tours are not available during the Inauguration weekend.

The Georgia Inauguration Gala will be held on Sunday, January 20, from 7 p.m. to midnight at the National Museum of Women in the Arts.  Gladys Knight is the entertainment.  The link to purchase tickets can be found on this website:  http://georgiainaugural2013.eventbrite.com/#  The Congressional Black Caucus Foundation is hosting a gala on January 21.  Tickets are available for purchase starting January 4.  For more information, visit: http://cbcfinc.org/inauguration2013.html
