Scott Announces $74,437 Grant Award for Riverdale Fire Services
U.S. Representative David Scott (GA-13) announced today that the U.S. Department of Homeland Security has awarded the Riverdale Fire Services a grant totaling $74,437 through its 2005 Assistance to Firefighters Grant Program. “This funding provides resources for emergency preparedness and homeland security initiatives that are desperately needed by our local fire departments. Firefighters with the Riverdale Fire Services will use these funds to improve their firefighting operations and firefighter health and safety programs,” said Congressman Scott. The Assistance to Firefighters Grant Program awards one-year grants directly to fire departments to support the nation’s firefighters and the services they deliver. The grant awarded to the Riverdale Fire Services specifically provides funding in the area of Fire Operations and Firefighter Safety, which includes training, wellness and fitness, firefighting equipment, personal protective equipment, and modifications to fire stations and facilities. “I will continue to work with my colleagues in Washington and local officials to deliver much-needed resources to our area first responders and the communities they safeguard,” said Scott.
