Congressman David Scott to honor students at 12th Annual Congressional Art Competition “An Artistic Discovery”

WHAT:  Congressman David Scott will host an awards ceremony to honor all participating students of his 12th Annual Congressional High School Art Competition, An Artistic Discovery.  To date, Congressman Scott has awarded over $300,000 in scholarships to local student artists.

During the ceremony, top winners will be announced.  The first place entry from Congressman Scott’s district will join other first place winners from around the country and be displayed in the U.S. Capitol for one year.  The first-place winner will also receive a scholarship from the Savannah College of Art and Design Scholarships for $3,000/ year up to four years.

WHEN:  Saturday, March 1, 2014 from 10:00 a.m. to 12:00 p.m.

WHERE:  Douglas County Museum of History and Art, located at the Old Douglas County Courthouse, 6754 Broad Street, Douglasville, Georgia 30134. The exhibit of student 92 entries will be displayed from March 1 -  14, 2014.

WHO:  Participating high schools this year include Alexander High School, Arlington Christian School, Banneker High School, Campbell High School, Chapel Hill High School, Charles Drew High School, Douglas County High School, Eagles Landing High School, Fayette County High School, Harvester Christian Academy, Langston Hughes High School, Lithia Springs High School, McEachern High School, Mundy’s Mill High School, New Manchester High School, North Clayton High School, Pebblebrook High School, Praise Academy, South Cobb High School, Stockbridge High School and Whitefield Academy.

This year’s competition includes a special partnership with the Cultural Arts Council of Douglasville/ Douglas County.
