CONGRESSMAN DAVID SCOTT ANNOUNCES FEDERAL FUNDS FOR CLAYTON COUNTY
Today, U.S. Representative David Scott (GA-13) announced that a federal award of $150,000 has been awarded to Clayton County for the Clayton County Senior Citizens Center located near the City of Riverdale. The project was included in the bill funding the U.S. Departments of Transportation, Treasury, Housing and Urban Development, and other agencies for Fiscal Year 2006.
“I am pleased to be able to provide Clayton County with assistance in improving services available to the county’s growing senior population,” Congressman Scott said. “This worthy project will provide a greater variety of much-needed health resources for Clayton County’s seniors.” Clayton County will utilize the federal funds to expand the current facility to include a “wellness” annex that will contain exercise and health equipment. Further, the addition will be used for hosting community-wide events. Congressman Scott was also able to secure $400,000 to replace instrument landing equipment at Hartsfield-Jackson International Airport. This project will improve pilot visibility and reduce maintenance of current landing systems for the world’s busiest airport. The U.S House of Representatives passed the FY 2006 spending bill today. It must now be signed into law by the President. |
