Rep. David Scott Applauds Passage of the INVEST in America Act, $19 Million in Infrastructure Investments for GA-13

U.S. Representative David Scott (GA-13), chairman of the House Agriculture Committee, today voted to pass H.R. 3684, the INVEST in America Act, legislation to invest in roads, bridges, passenger and freight rail systems, transit safety, clean drinking water and wastewater infrastructure across all 50 states and U.S. territories. 

“The INVEST Act is a critical investment in infrastructure for Georgia’s 13th Congressional District and our entire nation. This bold legislation will help meet President Biden’s vision to invest in American workers and communities while taking measurable steps to deal with the climate crisis,” said Congressman David Scott. “I am proud to announce that $19 million for projects I requested were included to enhance the flow of traffic, support public safety and increase sustainability for communities across metro Atlanta.”

The INVEST Act secures over $715 billion in infrastructure investments nationwide.

Six projects totaling $19 million that Congressman David Scott submitted earlier in the year were included in the legislation, including:

  • East West Connector Corridor Improvement, sponsored by the Cobb County Department of Transportation; $4,500,000
  • I-20 at Chapel Hill Road Diverging Diamond, sponsored by Douglas County; $5,000,000
  • Clayton County Justice Center Transit Hub – Phase II, sponsored by Metropolitan Atlanta Rapid Transit Authority (MARTA); $4,960,000
  • Global Gateway Connector, sponsored by the City of College Park; $3,542,355
  • South Cobb Drive Corridor, sponsored by City of Smyrna$250,000
  • Windy Hill Boulevard, sponsored by the City of Smyrna and Cobb County; $500,000
