Congressman David Scott Statement Regarding Trump’s $12 Billion Farm Aid Announcement
Washington,
December 10, 2025
WASHINGTON D.C. - Today, Congressman David Scott released the following statement regarding the Trump Administration’s farm aid plan. “Farmers across the country are hurting because of this administration’s tariffs and trade war that have inflicted billions of dollars in losses on American producers. Now, the Administration is providing only $12 billion in farm aid, rather than reversing the policies that are actively harming the farm economy in the first place. This comes immediately after the Trump Administration committed $40 billion to backstop Argentina’s collapsing currency, exposing U.S. taxpayers to extraordinary risk! In October, I sent a letter to Treasury Secretary Scott Bessent regarding this bailout, highlighting that the Administration’s trade war has pushed international markets away from American producers and towards Argentina. American farmers are being told to do more with less support and no long-term plan. Our farmers, workers, and rural communities need real relief and a trade agenda that strengthens America!” ### |
