Congressman Scott Honors the Achievements of the Jonesboro High School Mock Trial Team in the Congressional Record

Congressman David Scott (D-GA) honored the Jonesboro High School Mock Trial Team by recognizing their second national championship win with a page in the Congressional Record, the official record of the United States Congress dating back to 1873. Congressman Scott will also present each of the students on the team with a Certificate of Special Congressional Recognition.

“I am proud to celebrate the praiseworthy accomplishments of the Jonesboro High School Mock Trial Team,” said Congressman Scott. “I am also so very proud that the hard-work and commitment of these fifth-teen students is representing the talents and tenacity of the students in Clayton County that we witness in our kids everyday. These students clearly have bright futures ahead of them and I, like many others throughout Clayton County, will be cheering for them next year as they aim to make mock trial history by becoming the first school to win three national championships.”

On Saturday, May 10, 2008 the team competed in four grueling rounds against Wyoming, Missouri, Alabama and Ohio. They won every ballot in all four rounds – a resounding victory over the other teams. In the final round, Georgia (Jonesboro High School) went up against Michigan and came out on top, winning their second consecutive national championship. The students of Jonesboro High School’s Mock Trial Team join the Tennessee Family Christian Academy as the only two schools to win two mock trial national titles.
