Today Congressman David Scott (GA-13) co-sponsored the Coronavirus Community Relief Act, new legislation to provide $250 billion in stabilization funds for local cities and counties across the United States that are struggling amidst the COVID-19 pandemic. 

On March 27^th, the Coronavirus Aid, Relief and Economic Security or CARES Act was signed into law, providing $150 billion in stabilization funds for states and larger communities. However, the CARES Act limited localities able to receive direct support at those with populations of over 500,000. This excluded large metropolitan areas, cities, towns and rural counties that have been hit hard by the COVID-19 outbreak, including all of the cities located in Congressman Scott’s district.

“From Union City to Smyrna, I have heard from leaders across the Thirteenth District about the extraordinary steps they are taking to continue serving and protecting residents during the coronavirus pandemic,” said Congressman Scott. “Our communities need additional COVID-19 relief funds for emergency response and economic recovery efforts. I support the Coronavirus Community Relief Act to bring $250 billion directly to our cities and counties and to ensure that emergency relief is available for every city or county in need, regardless of population.”
