Today, Congressman David Scott (GA-13) announced that FEMA has awarded a $163,294 grant to the Cobb County Fire Department through the Assistance to Firefighters Grant – COVID-19 Supplemental Program (AFG-S).
“Firefighters place themselves in harm’s way every day for the communities they serve, and even more so now as they respond to the obstacles presented by the COVID-19 pandemic,” said Congressman Scott. “Our first responders need support so that they can respond and adapt to changing environments. We must provide the PPE and other essential supplies that these heroes deserve, and I am tremendously pleased that Cobb County firefighters can move forward with additional resources to enhance their ability to protect the health and safety of the public during this pandemic.”
Authorized by the Coronavirus Aid, Relief, and Economic Security (CARES) Act, AFG-S provides funds for the purchase of personal protective equipment (PPE) and related supplies for fire departments and Emergency Medical Services organizations to prevent, prepare for, and respond to the COVID-19 pandemic.
