Congressman David Scott Announces 18th Annual Congressional Art Competition

Today, Congressman David Scott (D-GA) announced that his office is accepting submissions for the 18th Annual Congressional Art Competition, An Artistic Discovery. High school students who live or attend school in Georgia’s Thirteenth Congressional District are invited to submit artwork for the competition. 

Student submissions for the 2021 Congressional Art Competition must be delivered to Congressman Scott’s Smyrna or Jonesboro District Office by April 16, 2021. Students may obtain entry forms and official guidelines from their high school art teachers. There is no mandatory theme for the competition.

The awards for finalists include:

1st Place: 

  • $12,000 scholarship to the Art Institute of Atlanta 

  • $3,000/ per year scholarship to the Savannah College of Art and Design (renewable for up to 4 years or $12,000)  

  • 2 Round-trip airfare tickets on Southwest Airlines to attend the national ribbon cutting ceremony in Washington, D.C.  

  • Student artwork will hang in the Tunnel of the Cannon House Office Building for 1 year 


2nd Place: 
  • $7,500 scholarship to the Art Institute of Atlanta 

  • Artwork will hang in Congressman David Scott's Washington, D.C. office for one year 


3rd Place: 

  • $3,500 scholarship to the Art Institute of Atlanta 

  • $1000 individual scholarship – Greystone Power Group 

  • $500 individual scholarship – Georgia Power 

  • Artwork will hang at Hartsfield-Jackson Atlanta International Airport for one year 


4th Place: 

  • Artwork will hang in Congressman David Scott's Jonesboro office for one year 

  • 2 Complimentary tickets to High Museum of Art 


5th Place:  
  • Artwork will hang in Congressman David Scott's Smyrna office for one year 
  • 2 Complimentary tickets to High Museum of Art 


Honorable Mention:  
  • 2 Complimentary tickets to High Museum of Art
