Congressman David Scott Leads Georgia Congressional Delegation in Commending United States Capitol Police Officer Caroline Edwards

Today, Congressman David Scott (GA-13), chairman of the House Agriculture Committee, led Democratic members of Georgia’s Congressional Delegation in introducing a House Resolution commending United States Capitol Police (USCP) Officer Caroline Edwards for her heroic service in defense of American Democracy during the January 6, 2021 attack on the United States Capitol. Officer Edwards is a 4-year veteran of the USCP First Responder Unit, a graduate of the University of Georgia, and a proud Georgia native. She recently testified before the Select Committee to Investigate the January 6th Attack on the U.S. Capitol.

“Officer Caroline Edwards reminds us what heroism and bravery look like. Despite suffering violent injuries in hand-to-hand combat with insurrectionists, Officer Edwards’ actions demonstrated an unwavering fidelity to her oath, her colleagues, and the Constitution. Her testimony before the January 6th Committee, which shone a bright light on the events of that tragic day, is a further testament to her remarkable commitment to the oath to protect and serve carried out by the United States Capitol Police each day,” stated Congressman David Scott. “Officer Edwards’ testimony was a poignant reminder of the fragility of peace and knowledge that we must never take our American democracy for granted.  It is my sincere honor, alongside my colleagues here in Congress, to commend Officer Edwards for her commitment to our democracy and her service to our Nation.”
