Congressman David Scott Priorities and Leadership

Congressman David Scott remains steadfast in his dedication to revitalizing our environment, safeguarding marginalized communities from the impacts of climate change, and advocating for innovative solutions to increase renewable energy use. His unwavering commitment underscores his belief in a sustainable future that prioritizes both environmental stewardship and social equity.

Investing in Sustainable Agriculture

  • As the former Chairman of the House Agriculture Committee, Rep. David Scott led efforts that advanced sustainable agriculture solutions to empower farmers, ranchers, and foresters. To that end, he has stood firmly against Republican attacks to reduce or outright dismantle key Inflation Reduction Act (IRA) conservation funding in the 2025 Farm Bill.
  • He worked closely with the Biden-Harris Administration to implement the Office of Agriculture and Rural Affairs at the Environmental Protection Agency (EPA) to expand opportunities for the EPA to work with agricultural and rural communities.

Supporting Conservation Efforts to Restore Our Environment

  • In 2024, Rep. David Scott secured $500,000 for the City of College Park’s Finding the Flint Restoration Project, which will fund the creation of the city’s first nature preserve and help restore the Flint River.
  • He fought to protect more than $409 million in FY 2025 funding for Ecological Services to help facilitate implementation of the Endangered Species Act and over $72 million for the Cooperative Endangered Species Conservation Fund inside the U.S. Fish and Wildlife Service (FWS).
  • Cosponsored the Outdoors For All Act, which would allow for more equitable access to local parks, improvements to agency knowledge and targeted funding for new trails and green spaces.
  • Cosponsored the Trees for Residential Energy and Economic Savings Act, which establishes new grants to facilitate tree planning projects meant to reduce residential energy consumption.
Supporting Renewable and Bioenergy
  • Rep. David Scott requested no less than $130 million for Energy Frontier Research Centers in the FY 2026 Energy & Water Appropriations bill to support researchers and graduate students pursuing novel solutions for clean energy-related challenges.
  • He requested $150 million in FY 2026 for the Department of Energy’s (DOE) Office of Technology Transitions to invest in and commercialize innovations in clean energy technologies.
  • Working alongside several Georgia Members, Rep. David Scott requested $4 billion for DOE's Office of Energy Efficiency and Renewable Energy to support agency researchers and partnerships that will deliver innovative technologies to help make renewable electricity generation more cost-competitive with traditional sources of energy.
